FAQs
Everything an agency asks
before applying.
Plain answers about the program. If yours isn't here, book a call and ask a person.
The program
What is the Agency Partner Program?
Heatmap's program for agencies that run ecommerce stores. Heatmap becomes top of funnel for you: your expertise, as articles and videos, is delivered to the merchants who need it, and the meetings come to you pre-qualified. Alongside that, Heatmap's Revenue Success Team works on your clients' stores, for your agency.
Who is it for?
Agencies serving ecommerce and Shopify merchants: CRO, design, development, analytics and marketing agencies that want qualified leads and senior CRO support behind every client.
What do partners get?
Up to 20% commission on every client you bring, or the same passed to them as a discount. Agency CRO certification. A listing in the heatmap.com directory. Early access to beta features. Co-selling and client support. Ongoing education and training. And the people: strategy sessions and quick reviews with Olaf, our Head of CRO, brainstorming with any Heatmap team member, help hiring, AI analysis on a client site, and co-marketing under your own banner.
How is the commission paid?
Up to 20% of what the clients you bring pay Heatmap, paid out through Partner.io on Stripe. You can take it as commission or pass it to the client as a discount. The exact rate and terms are in the partner agreement.
What is a founding partner?
One of the agencies in the program's first cohort. Founding partners get permanent founding status and tier, first access to the matching engine and a dedicated CRO, a direct line into the roadmap and featured placement in co-marketing. In return we ask for regular feedback sessions, contributed content, and a case study once the results come in. The cohort is seven agencies, and the status does not expire.
What is live today?
Live now, for every partner: the Revenue Success Team on every account, the Agency Portal, the commission, certification and the directory listing, co-selling and client support, and referrals made by the partnerships team. Rolling out with the founding cohort: the matching engine, push offers and the dedicated CRO. On the roadmap: the Partners Win Board and the Expert Center. The board on the program page keeps this list current.
Is this the Agency Portal?
No. The Agency Portal (agency.heatmap.com) is where a partner manages every client site from one login, and the Partner Center inside Heatmap is where your content and referrals live. This program is the way in; both products come with it.
Leads and matching
How do referred leads work?
You contribute your expertise as articles and videos. Heatmap delivers them as observations to the merchants that match you twice: by ICP, and by what their store's behavior shows right now. A merchant who reads a piece that speaks to their exact need books a call with you.
What makes a lead qualified?
Every meeting is pre-qualified by demographics for an ICP match, and in a present, immediate, identifiable need based on behavioral analytics or an expressed need.
If I put Heatmap on my client's store, will you send them to another agency?
No. Every client you bring is registered to your agency from day one. Merchants registered to your agency never see another partner's content, offers or Book a Call observations inside Heatmap. Outside of product support and billing, we don't contact your clients about strategy or services without looping you in. Full terms live in the partner agreement.
What is a push offer?
A way to reach your perfect-match ICP before they come to you: you offer a teardown video to the stores that fit, and you build it on their real behavioral data, so it is grounded in data before the first call.
Do merchants know their store data is shared with a partner?
Yes. Merchants opt in before any store data is shared with any partner. No partner sees a store's behavior data without that merchant's consent.
Do I have to write?
Your expertise is the product here, so yes, as articles or videos, under your own banner. Heatmap chooses the channel and the targeting, and reviews and publishes what you send.
Is the matching engine live today?
It is rolling out with the founding cohort. Referrals run through the partnerships team today, and the engine takes over as it lands. The board on the program page says what is live.
The Revenue Success Team
Does the Revenue Success Team compete with my agency?
No. The Revenue Success Team works for your agency, not around it. Heatmap finds and validates opportunities. Your team decides what to recommend and does the work. We don't sell services, implement changes or present findings to your clients without you. Everything we identify comes to you first.
What does every partner get from the team?
The team is included with every Heatmap account, so it is on every client you bring at no extra cost. It looks for opportunities on your clients' stores and brings them to you as they appear, so your team gets timely insights for every brand you run.
What is a dedicated CRO?
For agencies that scale with us, a CRO on the Revenue Success Team works for your agency alone. About an hour per site: validating the AI findings and preparing each account for the person on your team who owns it.
How many clients do I need to bring for that?
Around 40 brands on Heatmap is where a dedicated CRO starts to make sense. Where your agency sits is a conversation for the call.
What does the team cost?
The Revenue Success Team itself is included with every Heatmap account: no add-on, no upsell tier, no minimum spend. A CRO dedicated to your agency is the one thing that costs, and it costs what that person's time costs us, with nothing added.
How does the team work on my clients, compared with merchants who came to Heatmap direct?
On an account registered to your agency, everything the team finds comes to you first, and nothing is presented to your client without you. On a direct account, the team works with the merchant, and when that merchant's needs outgrow what the team does inside the product, Heatmap introduces a partner agency: one at a time, matched on the site, the budget and the work.
The product
What does Heatmap do that Clarity, Hotjar or Lucky Orange don't?
It prices behavior. Every element on every page carries what it earned, not how many times it was touched. A/B tests are read in revenue per session, not conversion rate alone. And the Attention Map cuts every page into 20 bands and measures how many people reached each one and how many took it in, because most of a decision happens with nothing clicked.
How long does the install take?
Two minutes or less. One snippet, with a purpose-built version for each platform: Shopify and Shopify Plus, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Webflow, ClickFunnels and custom builds. Most stores never need a developer for it.
Will it slow a client's store down?
No. Website-Speed Protection is built into the product, and the snippet is 8kb. Heatmap split-tested it across more than two million dollars of revenue, with and without the snippet, and saw no change in performance.
Does it work with Shopify Plus and its checkout?
Heatmap runs on Shopify and Shopify Plus stores with a snippet built for the platform, and ties each order back to the session that produced it. If a client runs a customized Plus checkout, we confirm the checkout setup with you on the fit call.
Is it GDPR compliant, and how is consent handled?
Heatmap is fully GDPR compliant. Recording on a store follows that store's own consent banner, and Heatmap's terms require the merchant to disclose the tracking in their privacy policy and to obtain consent before any session is recorded.
Can I see the Agency Portal before I apply?
Yes. Book a call and we walk you through the multi-client view, permissions and the reports you can share with a client, on a real account.
Applying
How do I apply?
Fill in the application on the program page, or book a call first. We review every application and reply within one business day.
What happens after I apply?
A fit call, where we talk through your work, your skills and your signature moves. We research your agency and review your past work. We sign an NDA and a referral agreement. Then Heatmap finds the merchants who need your kind of support and refers them to you.
Do I sign anything?
An NDA and a referral agreement, before any referral is made. The rules of engagement on the program page are written into the agreement.
Where do I log in once I am a partner?
The Agency Portal at agency.heatmap.com for your clients' sites, and Heatmap itself at portal.heatmap.com.
